Aggregation of Marginal Gains
The idea of AMG is that there are a million tiny things that you can do to be better but most people concentrate only on the biggest and most obvious ones. A very successful team-coach said that his team focus on as many of the tiny things as they possibly can - in the knowledge that each one may have only a negligible effect, but take as a whole they are exploded into a league of their own. Another way of looking at this is that successful people, teams, companies are so well prepared and organised that when an opportunity comes their way they are able to react immediately

Sometimes people also invest too much time in achieving little result for the effort invested and then it is better focus/prioritize on the bigger items, but at the same time achieving a lot small things can be quite motivational, make your life easier and ultimately help you achieve the bigger goal.
I think the tip means that you can make tiny improvements to your game/life/business plan that perhaps don't appear important but gradually add up. But you are right you shouldn't be focusing on them.
A simple example I sell books on Amazon but have very limited storage, after 2 years I've just hit on a way to organise my 7 sizes of Jiffy bags so I can easily grab the size I want with one hand. Sounds daft but it really helps.
