The Search for a Credit-Crunch Proof Income and a Fun Way of Earning It

Today 28 Oct 08 I've decided that I can make a full-time income from the Internet but I'm not there yet. I've had lots of minor successes but no breakthrough no runaway success, but I know it will come. I've been an eBay Powerseller and sold over a 1000 second-hand books on Amazon, I've built a mailing list of 2,500 people, I've earned money from Adsense and Clickbank, but not enough to impress my wife. So explore my Squidoo lens and see if you can pick up a few ideas for your success http://www.squidoo.com/thesuccess!

Have You Considered Buying a Franchise?

Having started several businesses from scratch I realise that there are a lot of attractions to buying a franchise, no burning up your enthusiasm and your capital just getting your business and market setup. With a franchise you get a ready-made proven business model, a business plan laid out to the finest detail, you cannot go wrong. Well that's true at least if you choose the right franchise and that's obviously the trickiest and most important part.

Well there are Franchise Exhibitions but now there is a special website called www.franchisegator.co.uk which has hundreds of franchise opportunities . To make the search easier these are devided into many categories including computers, cars, fitness, women's opportunities, health, sports and many more. You can also search for a franchise in the UK by Town or city, Capital available, and industry or sector.

The site is aimed at people looking for a franchises in the UK. The site also has lots of information about finance, the legal side, and general advice on franchising.

The most important thing is to take your time, perform due-diligence and choose wisely and you could find a successful credit-crunch proof business.

Franchise Gator is a subsidiary of Microsoft so is a really solid organisation.

Napoleon Hill was a Vandal and Hoodlum

I'm reading Napoleon Hill's lesser known book "A Year of Growing Rich" and was astonished to learn that in his youth he had been a trouble maker. His religious widowed father tried to beat it out of him which only made him worse. He was saved by the love he received from his step-mother when his father re-married. So that's where he learnt so much about failure and success.

Aggregation of Marginal Gains

The idea of AMG is that there are a million tiny things that you can do to be better but most people concentrate only on the biggest and most obvious ones. A very successful team-coach said that his team focus on as many of the tiny things as they possibly can - in the knowledge that each one may have only a negligible effect, but take as a whole they are exploded into a league of their own. Another way of looking at this is that successful people, teams, companies are so well prepared and organised that when an opportunity comes their way they are able to react immediately

Model Yourself : Transfer your Strengths to your Weaknesses

Self-help classics invite us to model successful people, well it's not so easy to meet these people at least before you become successful; so please consider the power of the following:-

Take your best strength and analyse thoroughly how you became good/expert in that field, then see if you apply these same techniques to attack one of your weak areas. If we feel we are good at something we naturally direct more enthusiasm and energy towards it and do the opposite for things we feel we are bad at. A little bit of this enthusiasm applied to a weak trait might achieve amazing results. Effectively you are modelling yourself. If this works you will get a great self-confidence boost.

Break a Bad Pattern with the Eye Trick

Recently I recently learnt a trick to nip a flashback of a bad memory in the bud (see earlier blog posting). I try to look out of my left eye as wide left as possible, as far right as possible with my right eye. This seems to exert the brain sufficiently that it is incapable of continuing to replay "the video" of your bad experience. I've now found that you can use it to break practically any behaviour pattern; you are nervous at the dentists or before an interview, you are stressing out or getting angry.
Try it , it works every time!

How Fast Can You Go Into REVERSE?

Many Success Tips stress the importance of perseverance and of the importance of battling on when all seems lost. However there are times when you must even so turn back when it would be stubbornness to continue, just as you would if you realised you'd taken a wrong turning on the road. This is where the Successful differ from ordinary people, as soon as they recognise they were totally wrong they are prepared to ruthlessly rip down what they have already built and start again. They are up and running again while the unsuccessful are still dithering.

Do You Suffer from Unpleasant-Memory Flashbacks?

For no particular reason my brain will suddenly recall an embarrassing or painful incident that may have happened years ago. Surprisingly the flashbacks which disturb me the most are those which recall an incident where I handled a social situation very badly, if I tried to explain these to you you'd likely think them trivial but they cause me anguish. They seem to occur more frequently when I am generally anxious.
Fortunately I recently learnt a trick to nip the flashback in the bud (see earlier blog posting). I try to look out of my left eye as wide left as possible, as far right as possible with my right eye. This seems to exert the brain sufficiently that it is incapable of continuing to replay "the video" of your bad memory.
Try it , it works every time!

Genius Dip

Project Zero found almost all children were geniuses ip to the age of 4 in multiple frames of intelligence.

This discovery from Project Zero wiped away any notion that hinted intelligence is an inherited trait. It also completely throws out the myth that “geniuses” are something eccentric that is far and few in between.

Almost every single child is born a genius across multiple intelligence. Yes, your child, as a baby, shows the very same capability for math, music, linguistic and other skills as so called “child geniuses”.

BUT… the Project Zero researchers found that by the age of 20, the percentage of geniuses within a population whittles down to 10%… and over the age of twenty, a mere 2% retained their genius ability.

Yet more proof that most of us are under-performing!

Mastermind Groups

What is a Mastermind Group?

Mastermind Groups allow participants to raise the bar by challenging each other to create and implement goals, brainstorm ideas, and support each other with total honesty, respect and compassion. Mastermind participants act as catalysts for growth, devil’s advocates and supportive colleagues.

Napoleon Hill

The concept of the Mastermind Group was formally introduced by Napoleon Hill in the early 1900's. In his timeless classic, "Think And Grow Rich" he wrote about the Mastermind principle as:

"The coordination of knowledge and effort of two or more people, who work toward a definite purpose, in the spirit of harmony." "No two minds ever come together without thereby creating a third, invisible intangible force, which may be likened to a third mind."

The difficulty is or course is to find exactly the right people for your Mastermind group. The reward is however that you can rise to a higher plane.

Fitness for Desk Bound Workers

Homeworkers risk getting even less exercise that office workers who work in large buildings where at least there are long corridors. The following is a list of tips you can use to squeeze in a little more into your daily routine. Spread out exercise can be more valuable than occasional intense exercise in a gym.
  • When you go to the restroom as we all do during the day, take the ‘long’ route. Go to another floor using the stairs, or to the building next door. You can even be brave enough to walk around the building and back in. You can walk several flights of stairs up to the restroom.
  • Likewise, when you go to a meeting or to lunch, find a route that gives you more walking time. Every step helps.
  • Of course, there is still the old trick of parking a couple blocks away to walk to work. Or take a more distant subway or bus stop and walk from there to work.
  • Keep hand weights handy at your desk. When you are waiting for a program to come up or finish executing, pick up your weights; do some arm lifts.
  • Put weight bands on your ankles and lift your legs up straight from time to time. Hold them straight once in a while.
  • Instead of rolling your chair back and forth to the different machines (printer, fax, etc), stand up and walk over to it and back. Just standing up and sitting down is activity.

Brain Gym : Boost your Learning Power and Focus

I went along to a "Brain Gym" meeting the other day genuinely thinking that it would consist of IQ tests and puzzles. Turns out it is nothing at all to do with that but rather a set of exercises you can do before studying which claim to boost your learning power. I had great fun doing the exercises which at the very least buck you up and clear away the fog. Brain Gym exercises are widely used in UK schools even though the scientific basis remains controversial. Learn more at their website www.braingym.org

Brain Gym Claims:-
  • Learn ANYTHING faster and more easily
  • Perform better at sports
  • Be more focused and organized
  • Start and finish projects with ease
  • Overcome learning challenges
  • Reach new levels of excellence

The Swish Technique : Re-directionalise thinking

The Swish technique enables us to quickly dissolve the feelings attached to unwanted thoughts and to deal with unuseful responses.

In the Swish we replace the unwanted thought or response with a more useful and appropriate one because the Swish re-directionalises thinking. It is an instruction to the brain No, not that - THIS!!

Use it for yourself - and others

This is a valuable technique for managing your own thinking, states, and behaviours. Each time you use the Swish you are training yourself to instantly re-direct your thinking from unuseful topics to more resourceful ones.

By using the Swish in your own life you develop your ability to maintain resourceful states, manage your responses to stressful situations, and engage in the behaviours you want.
