My First Car Boot / Garage Sale

Before eBay Garage or Car Boot Sales were the best way of selling unwanted goods. For many items they are still best ie for heavy or awkward objects or general bric-a-brac. Unbelievably however I'd never done a garage sale which is unfortunate as you can learn important lessons in what sells, lessons that you can use to boost your online sales.

Well I've now stood in a field for 5 hours on a sunny autumn morning and I've made a modest profit selling my surplus books. Strangely I was rather nervous and had to stretch my comfort zone. I learnt that people love buying small stuff, gadgets, toys, tools, souvenirs, coins, stamps and other collectibles. They love rummaging through boxes. Also you have to have something which attracts their attention in the first place so that they don't just walk buy.
